OTM Consulting and Rice University’s Alliance for Technology & Entrepreneurship join forces to support new technology commercialization in the oil & gas sector

23 April, 2015

OTM Consulting today announced it has entered into a partnership with Rice University’s Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, in Houston, Texas. The partnership will see OTM Consulting providing industry expertise and financial support to Rice University’s activities focused on the creation of technology-based companies and the commercialization of new technologies. OTM’s participation will be particularly focused on the energy and clean technology industry in the Houston community and Southwest.

Establishing this partnership is part of OTM’s growing presence within the Houston area, which it recognizes as a central hub for commercializing technologies with a global impact on the oil & gas sector. The company has recently moved into new, larger offices to support its consulting activities in the Houston area and it continues to locally run a number of industry networks and knowledge sharing forums, such as the Technology Management Network and the Subsea Wireless Group, addressing key industry challenges and promoting technological solutions.

“Rice Alliance’s focus on technology-based entrepreneurship is something that we’re very proud to be a part of,” said Chris Dudgeon, Managing Director of OTM Consulting. “We have collaborated with Rice University for a number of years on the Rice Business Plan Competition and we’re very happy to be growing our support into a formal partnership, particularly as we grow our Houston based operations and look to build our role in the oil & gas community here. The local Oil & Gas market is key for us and, particularly given the industry’s difficult current climate, it is more important than ever that we don’t allow technology innovation to falter. We see the importance of this time and time again in the projects we run with clients.”

Brad Burke, Managing Director of the Rice Alliance, adds: “We are delighted to have OTM’s increased support across our technology entrepreneurship and commercialization activities. With this collaboration, the Rice Alliance gains a valuable partner with extensive expertise in oil & gas R&D strategy and deployment. Their financial support is greatly valued and their professional expertise will provide important benefit to our students and future technology leaders.”

The partnership is an extension of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) academic partnership program run by OTM Consulting’s parent company, Sagentia Group plc. The company’s broader academic partnership program’s mission is to support and raise the profile of science and engineering skills in academia and the direct impact these skills have on industry and the economy at large.
